Mumbai: Early next month, Onam Opulence 2025, one of Mumbai’s most vibrant cultural celebrations, organised by Seawoods Malayali Samajam in association with Nexus Mall, is to be held at Seawoods in Navi Mumbai.
This spectacular Onam festival—reportedly, the largest Onam celebration in the city with the highest participation of people from across communities—will present a dazzling display of Kerala’s traditions, art and unity.
Folklore dances, prizes for Instagram reel to capture the mood
The event will feature a grand flower display (pookalam) created by over 100 artists from Seawoods Samajam. Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with traditional art and folklore, including performances of Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Thiruvathirakkali, and Chendamelam (Kerala drum ensemble). Moreover, for the first time, ethnic and folk dances, such as Puthapattu, will be presented at #OnamOpulence.
Visitors will also experience Kerala’s rich mythology brought to life by walk-through characters like King Maveli, Parasurama, and Vamana. Additionally, there will be exciting prizes for the best Instagram reels that capture the festive spirit.
A Festival of inclusivity and unity
*#OnamOpulence* is not just a celebration; it is an occasion that transcends barriers of caste, creed, language, and nationality. The Seawoods Malayali Samajam, a prominent cultural society in Mumbai, has consistently highlighted Kerala’s heritage while also supporting causes such as rehabilitation aid for flood-affected regions in Kerala. Now in its sixth year of partnership with Nexus Mall, *#OnamOpulence* has become a much-anticipated cultural event in Mumbai, celebrated not only by Malayalis but also by various other communities, making it one of the most inclusive Onam celebrations in India.
