Delhi Police arrested Tahir Hussain, the prime suspect in Intelligence Bureau (IB) official Ankit Sharma after a Delhi court dismissed a plea by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor to surrender before the court. Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Vishal Pahuja rejecting Hussain’s plea said that the relief sought by the councillor was outside his jurisdiction.

As soon as the court rejected his plea, Delhi Police moved in and arrested the AAP councillor. Hussain’s advocate Mukesh Kalia told the court that the councillor was falsely implicated in the case and sought protection for his life and property.

Hussain has been arrested for the murder of IB official during the Delhi riots which shook the country, leaving over 40 killed and more than 200 injured in clashes.
