ABOUT MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY
Mahatma Gandhi University is one of the four affiliated Universities in the state of Kerala in the Indian Union. It’s recognized by UGC / Central / State Governments and Distance Education Council. It came into being on 2nd October 1983, the one-hundred-and fifteenth birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. From its inception and through the last two decades Mahatma Gandhi University has taken immense strides in the fields of inter-disciplinary teaching and research in the areas of pure and applied sciences, social sciences and the humanities. The teaching programs conducted under the Credit and Semester System (CSS) in the statutory departments of teaching and research, organized as interdisciplinary Schools, are marked by their innovative curricula and their learner-oriented approaches. CSS is a student-friendly system that fosters interactive acquisition of knowledge in a multi-disciplinary context School of Distance Education.
Mahatma Gandhi University’s School of Distance Education (SDE) commenced its activities in 1990 to provide cost effective quality education to largest sections of the population including those living in remote and far flung areas. With over a decade of existence, the SDE has carved a niche for it’s among the premier educational institutions in India and abroad. Now SDE has 72 off campus centers – 64 within India and 8 abroad. The School of Distance Education is striding long steps towards democratization of higher education through off campus academic centers in India and abroad.
COURSES OF MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY, UNDER YASODA INSTITUTE OF RESEARCH AND ADVANCED STUDIES
Under Graduate Courses:
Duration: 3 Years
Eligibilty : Candidates for admission to the Under Graduate courses should have passed the Plus Two/ Pre-Degree Examination of this University or examination recognized as equivalent there to.
B. Com with Computer Application
Bachelor of Tourism Studies (B.T.S)
Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A)
Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.T)
B.Sc. Computer Science
Post Graduate Courses:
Master of Business Administartion (M.B.A)
Duration: 3 Years
ELIGIBILTY FOR ADMISSION
A pass in any Bachelor's Degree Examination of Mahatma Gandhi University or an equivalent degree of any other universities duly recognized by M.G.University with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate for all parts of examination or a Master's Degree examination with 50% marks in aggregate.
SC/ST students a pass in any Bachelor's Degree examination is needed for SC/ST candidates.
MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATION
Eligibility
A candidate seeking admission to MCA course must have a pass with not less than 50% marks in any recognized regular Bachelor's Degree course of minimum three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 level
OR
A pass with not less than 50% marks in any recognized Regular Bachelors Degree course of minimum three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics/Statistics(this does not include Business Mathematics or Business Statistics) as one of the Subjects.
OR A pass with not less than 50% marks in BCA degree of minimum three years duration from a recognized University.
Subject to the regulation relating to prescribed minimum of the respective qualifying examination, the minimum marks of admission to the course of studies shall be a pass in the case of SC/ST candidates.
Candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) referred to GO(P)208/66/Edn dated. 2-5-96 and subsequent amendments to order issued by the Government shall be given a relaxation of 2% marks in the prescribed minimum for admission.
A relaxation of 5% marks from the prescribed minimum shall be allowed in the case of physically handicapped persons.
Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in more than one chance in the subject (excluding languages) will have their percentage marks deducted at the rate of 5% for every additional appearance for the purpose of ranking.
Candidates with such degrees awarded by the Mahatma Gandhi University or any other degree recognized as equivalent to degrees in ( i ) by the Mahatma Gandhi University also are eligible to apply. Reservation of seats shall be as per rules prescribed in the relevant rules by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala.
Duration of the Course:
The course shall extend over a period of three academic years consisting of six semesters
