To coincide with Makara sankaranthi the Ayyapa Bhaktha Samithi had organized a three day Ayyappa festival in Matunga and have made four temples and a mosque which are replica of the temple at Sabarimala out of plantain stem by artisians from Kerala.
It took seven hours to complete the temples. Later they organized a procession of the lord led by Pancha Vadhyam, Udukku pattu and devotee attired in black dress danced Ayyappan Tullal singing in praise of the Lord.
