BCCI backs ICC working groups proposal on reforms

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Thursday approved the reforms proposed by the Commercial Rights Working Group of the International Cricket Council (ICC) that aim at reforming the power structure in the world body.
The BCCI members discussed the proposal made by the ICC Commercial Rights Working Group at its emergency working committee meeting here. According to the proposals, the BCCI, Cricket Australia (CA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will henceforth have more say in running the world body.
"The members discussed at length the proposals made by the ICC Working Group and felt that the proposals were in the interest of cricket at large. After deliberations, the BCCI working committee approved the proposal of the Working Group," said Sanjay Patel, BCCI secretary.
The meeting was chaired by vice-president Shivlal Yadav in the absence of board president Narayanaswami Srinivasan. Srinivasan skipped the meeting since his mother passed away early in the morning.
Patel also said that the working committee also authorised the office bearers to enter into agreements with ICC for participating in the ICC events and host ICC events, subject to the proposal being approved in the ICC Board.
"We have also authorized the office bearers to discuss bilateral matches with other full members (including Pakistan) and sign formal FTP (Future Tours Programme) Agreements," said Patel.
The committee also decided that the venues and the dates of the forthcoming seventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will be decided only after the dates for the coming Lok Sabha polls have been announced.
