In what may be termed as a green alliance, 3D design software maker Dassault Systemes has partnered with the German car manufacturer BMW Group to help develop lightweight and emission-free BMW i3 electric car.
"BMW Group leveraged Dassault Systemes' comprehensive and integrated industry solution experiences for the design and manufacturing of composite parts and structures," Dassault Systemes Executive Vice President (Corporate Strategy – Industry and Marketing) Monica Menghini informed media persons.
Using composite structures provides BMW Group the innovation space they need to generate new mobility experiences while meeting ever more strict regulatory objectives, Dassault Systemes CEO (CATIA) Philippe Laufer informed.
Employing Dessault's CATIA Composites Design applications, composites manufacturing constraints can be embedded early in the conceptual stage, enabling increased design iteration and early collaboration between design and manufacturing.
The applications also offer a flawless experience with digital continuity, from design to manufacturing, predicting manufacturability. It permits faster composites assemblies and components designs.
