Former cricketer Laxman awarded honorary doctorate

Former cricketer V.V.S. Laxman was awarded an honorary doctorate at the seventh convocation ceremony of TERI University here Wednesday.

Three others also received the honour — former president of East Timor José Manuel Ramos-Horta, Unilever CEO Paul Polman, and Hitachi chairman Hiroaki Nakanishi.

Accepting the doctorate, Laxman said: “I am happy because I wanted to become a doctor but realised my dream to play for the country. This is the right time for the youth to realise their personal aspirations and bring glory to the nation.”
