Ghana hungrier than Egypt for FIFA World Cup

Assistant coach of Ghana's 'Black Stars' Maxwell Konadu said Monday that they were hungrier than Egypt, their opponent in next month's play-off for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
"We are hungrier than Egypt for the World Cup and that will carry us through," Konadu said moments after the play-off draw here. The Black Stars were drawn against the Pharaohs of Egypt, reports Xinhua.
Konadu said Ghana would never underrate the Egyptians, whose players have played football to the highest level, but would prepare well for the encounter.
"With the current performance of our players, I don't think they can beat us. Everything that we will have to do to ensure that we qualify for the World Cup as a technical team, we will do. We are on course and we will do our best for our country," he said.
Team captain Asamoah Gyan was confident that they will triumph over Egypt but called on the supporters to repose confidence and trust in the team as it prepares for the two-leg crucial matches.
He asked for prayers and total support of Ghanaians to enable the West African nation to put a seal on qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.
Ghana will play at home in the first leg of the two-leg game in October with the return match set for November.
Both teams have met 18 times since 1960, with Egypt winning nine of the encounters while Ghana has triumphed four times. The two teams have drawn five times.
