India beat Malaysia to finish 5th in basketball championship

The Indian women’s basketball team finished its 25th FIBA Asia Championship journey on a high note beating Malaysia 74-59 in the relegation match here Saturday.
Riding high on top performances by Jeena Skaria (24 points), Geethu Anna Jose (21) and Anitha Pauldurai (14), India’s victory gives them fifth position, their best finish in the history of the Asia Championships.
India looked good from the start leading by double digits throughout the first half and securing a 12-point half time lead. The Malaysian outfit gave India a good game with Hui Pin Pang, Suik May Kew and Chiau Teng scoring 10 points apiece.
Result: India (Jeena Skaria 24, Geethu Anna Jose 21, Anitha Pauldurai 14) bt Malaysia (Hui Pin Pang 10, Suik May Kew 10, Chiau Teng 10) 74-59.
