Naidu woos Singapore businessmen for investments in India

Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu Saturday asked Singapore businessmen to invest in India's infrastructure projects since doing business is becoming easier in the country.
Interacting with business leaders from various sectors, Naidu, who is on a three-day visit to the city state, said, "Ease of doing business in India' is improving and more significant changes are in the offing."
"Naidu made a feverish pitch for investments from Singapore into urban development schemes like building smart cities, improving infrastructure in urban habitations and Housing for All by 2022 besides other sectors," a ministry statement released here said.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make in India programme, Naidu urged companies to come to India with "money and machines" as the country has the required human resources.
Chief executives of leading companies from various sectors like construction, electrical and electronics, automobiles, banking, consultancy services, power, oil and gas, and shipping met Naidu.
Naidu also met Singapore's Minister for National Development Desmond Lee and Minister in the prime minister's office and Second Minister for Trade and Industry S. Eswaran and discussed the new investor friendly climate being put in place in India.
Eswaran told Naidu that he would visit India soon for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and hold further discussions regarding investment opportunities.
Singapore has shown keen interest in assisting India in the development of smart cities and other urban development projects.
