New Zealand were 166 for eight against India at tea on day one of the second and final Test at the Basin Reserve here Friday.

 

 Tim Southee (19) was joined by Neil Wagner in the middle. Kane Williamson scored 47 at the top.

 

 Ishant Sharma was the star bowler for India, taking five for 44 in 15 overs.
