Retail inflation for industrial workers at 10.85 percent in July

Retail inflation declined to 10.85 percent for July from 11.63 percent for the previous month, government data showed here Friday.
The consumer price index-based inflation for industrial workers was 9.84 percent during the corresponding month of the previous year.
The largest upward pressure to the change in current index came from food group contributing 1.99 percentage points to the total change.
At item-level, rice, fish fresh, goat meat, milk, onions, chillies green, potato, tomato & other vegetables, electricity charges, firewood, bus fare and petrol were majorly responsible for the rise in the index, it said.
The food inflation stood at 14.10 percent against 14.86 percent of the previous month and 11.27 percent during the corresponding month of the previous year.
However, this was compensated to some extent by groundnut oil, primary and secondary school fees putting downward pressure on the index.
