India had to be content with a 2-0 series win against Bangladesh as their third ODI was washed out by heavy rain at a time when the visitors were reeling at 119 for nine in 34.2 overs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium here Thursday.
Stuart Binny (25) and tail-ender Umesh Yadav (0) were trying to hold things together for the visitors, reports bdnews24.com. The match was interrupted by rain earlier as well, with India on 37 for four in 12.3 overs. Consequently, the game was curtailed to 40 overs a side.
Opting to bat first, opener Robin Uthappa (5) went back early, edging a Mashrafe Mortaza delivery to Nasir Hossain at first slip in the fifth over. In the next over, pacer Al Amin Hossain's extra bounce surprised the other opener Ajinkya Rahane (3), who also edged to lob an overhead catch to Nasir. The impressive Taskin Ahmed struck with his first ball as Ambati Rayudu (1) snicked a short delivery straight to wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim.
Al Amin picked up his second in the 10th over, forcing Manoj Tiwary (2) to edge a short delivery to the second slip. Bangladesh's talismanic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan kept things tight. In his first over, he sent back the dangerous Suresh Raina, who scored a run-a-ball 25, as he swept to find a bottom-edge back to the wicket-keeper who took a sharp catch.
After that, the visitors lost three wickets within eight runs. Shakib bowled Wriddhiman Saha (16) out, who was looking to cut only to have his middle-stump taken out. The 27-year old all-rounder trapped Cheteshwar Pujara (27 off 63) in front of the stumps for a leg-before decision, leaving the visitors on 90 for seven.
The 19-year-old Taskin then picked up his second wicket when Akshar Patel found a thick edge back to the wicket-keeper. Tail-ender Mohit Sharma soon departed when Shohag Gazi struck him on the pads right in front the stumps for an easy plumb leg-before wicket decision.
India won the first ODI by seven wickets and second by 47 runs.
