The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will continue to intervene in the points of interconnection issue between Reliance Jio and incumbent operators, its chairman said.
“We have been deliberating on this issue. And I have always maintained this is not an issue of A versus B but an issue of consumers.
“We have intervened in this issue and will continue to do so,” TRAI Chairman R.S. Sharma said on the sidelines of IAMAI Digital Summit.
His comments come a day after the latest war of words between Airtel and Reliance Jio over the issue.
Bharti Airtel on Tuesday said it has provided Reliance Jio with adequate interconnect points that can serve over 190 million customers, more than double the 72.5 million customers currently claimed by Jio. The new entrant was unable to activate all the PoIs and use the capacity provided, it claimed.
