On Tuesday, while inaugurating the fifth edition of LOGIX INDIA 2024 in Mumbai, Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais stated that India must improve its global logistics ties to achieve its aim of a $5 trillion GDP by 2027.
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) is hosting LOGIX India, a three-day (26-28 March) expo and buyer-seller meet.
The Governor went on to praiseFIEO for supporting India’s exports over the last six decades, saying the country’s evolution into a developed country depends on its success in the logistics industry. He stated that India must improve its global logistics ties to achieve its aim of a $5 trillion GDP by 2027.
In addition, Governor Bais said that the government was taking measures to support the growth of the logistics sector, such as creating logistics parks, establishing a common logistics platform, and improving multi-modal transport connectivity.
He added that India was working to realise its vision of becoming a global logistics hub, citing initiatives such as the Sagarmala Project, Bharatmala Project, and National Logistics Policy, which were implemented to improve the country’s logistics infrastructure, reduce costs, and position India as a preferred logistics destination.
The governor further said that, as the Chancellor of 27 public universities in the state, he would ask all universities to work closely with FIEO. The Governor elaborated that the universities had the capabilities to meet the requirements for a skilled workforce in the logistics sector. On the occasion, the Governor also released the official catalogue of the 5th edition.
During the event, the Managing Director of the Shipping Corporation of India, Shyam Jagannathan; Chairman of FIEO, Ashwani Kumar; Commercial Director of SAIF Zone, Raed Bukhatir; Regional Chairman of FIEO, Paresh Mehta; and members of the global logistics industry were present.
