Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh (UP) Governor Anandiben Patel has directed all institutions to set up anti-conversion cells to prevent religious conversions. Reacting to the move, Shia cleric Syed Saif Abbas said that Islam does not permit forced religious conversion.

He said, “There is no permission for forced conversion in Islam. We have no objection to the instructions issued by Governor Anandiben Patel.”

He further added, “No matter what committee is formed, it should conduct an impartial investigation to determine whether there is actually a case of forced religious conversion or whether it is some other matter.”
