Jammu, J&K: A shocking revelation has put security agencies on high alert after a Pakistani terrorist, known as ‘Khargosh’, was found to have lived in India for 14 years before fleeing to Saudi Arabia. Former Jammu & Kashmir DGP S.P. Vaid has raised serious concerns over how the accused managed to operate across multiple states, including J&K, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, using fake identities and forged documents.
He reportedly entered India in 2012 and remained undetected for over a decade.
Vaid said, “His name is Umar Harris, and he is a resident of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Several criminal cases were registered against him, and he was lodged in a Pakistani jail. The ISI allegedly brainwashed and radicalised him, later recruiting him into Lashkar-e-Taiba and facilitating his infiltration into India.
He operated across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, he assumed a fake identity under the name ‘Sajjad’, created forged documents including a fake marriage certificate, and even managed to obtain a fraudulent Indian passport. He was nicknamed ‘Khargosh’ (rabbit) because he was extremely elusive and managed to evade capture.
🔴 Big Questions Raised:
• How did he get fake Indian documents and a passport?
• How did he escape to Saudi Arabia?
• Are there gaps in India’s security and immigration system?
Punjab and J&K Police have traced his presence in Saudi Arabia, and calls are growing for an NIA probe into the entire case.
