Hyderabad: When a local train rammed into a stationary express train and derailed near Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad on Monday, at least 13 people were injured, railway officials said. The local train, a Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS), was moving from Falaknuma to Secunderabad when it collided on the same track with an Intercity Express train. False signaling was the reason of accident The arrival on platform No 2 at the Kacheguda railway station was given a green signal, but another train was already standing there. The MMTS train, which slowed down as it approached the railway station, rammed into the Inter-City Express only a few meters from the platform, "said an unnamed South Central railway official. In the crash, the MMTS train engine failed as its three coaches derailed and turned to the left. It is said that the MMTS train driver, identified as Sekhar, suffered severe injuries and was trapped in the cab. His condition is said to be serious. "At least a dozen passengers suffered injuries due to the impact in the coaches behind the car. Had the MMTS not been running slowly, it would have been a serious accident, "he said. The victims were rushed for treatment to nearby hospitals. Many local trains were cancelled via Kacheguda while the other tracks were operating on important express services.
