Merchant Navy Week Observed

The Shipping Corporation of India and the committee in charge of National Maritime Day Celebrations organized the 61st National Maritime Day and Merchant Navy Week 2024 in Mumbai with the theme ‘Sustainable Shipping: Challenges and Opportunities.’

The momentous event was held on Saturday, March 30, in the presence of Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, who inaugurated it at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. On the occasion, the director general of Shipping Shyam Jagannathan affixed the Maritime Day badge to the governor’s apparel.

The chairman of the Shipping Corporation of India, Capt B K Tyagi; the chairman of the National Maritime Day celebrations committee, Atul Ubale; the deputy DG, Dr Pandurang Raut; ship surveyor Aniruddha Chaki; nautical surveyor, Capt Manish Kumar; shipping master Mukul Datta, and representatives of various shipping organisations were present.
