If you're in desperate need of a break from work and want to go for not much tiring trek, this is the perfect place for you. An endless stream of green forest cover and the stairs towards the Khandoba Mandir looks like a dreamy location.

A lesser-known temple dedicated to the deity Khandoba believed as the manifestation of Lord Shiva in the Deccan. The Khandoba Temple is located atop a small hillock in Mulgaon Village in Badlapur, Maharashtra. The village is located along the Badlapur-Murbad highway, 10 kms away from Badlapur city. You can take an auto near Badlapur station and can reach the location in 20 minutes. It will cost you up to Rs 150.

The temple has well built steps from the village at the base all the way to the top. It takes around 20-30 minutes to ascend the hill for a person with average fitness. On the way, one is treated to excellent views of the surrounding Western Ghats and Deccan hills. Don't forget to carry a water bottle as it can become tiring sometimes.

From the top, one can easily view all of Badlapur town, Tahuli peak, Bhoj lake, Chanderi fort and on other side Barvi dam and dense forests of the Western Ghats. Also, the place offers a breathtaking experience at the time of sunrise and sunset. The temple doors are open to people and the priest was offering water and chants of 'Om nama Shivay'. Once in a year, there is a fair named 'Khandobachi Yatra' that takes place here. The temple is lit up and the atmosphere turns devotional.

A word of caution for foodies: Do not end your trip without having Manchurian at a small stall nearby and vadapava and misal near auto stand. It has a very unique taste. Don't miss that .

Transport to depart you back to Badlapur station is also available where u can take share to reduce cost. End your day with lot of memories and smiles. Happy journey fellas.
