The Buxwaha forest which is located in Madhya Pradesh is said soon to be deforested because of the Diamond Mining Project, which will be undertaken by Aditya Birla group’s Essel Mining and Industry limited. It is said that over two lakh trees are going to be chopped down, but not for roads, electricity, industrial or infrastructural development, but simply because of an unnecessary item, ‘The Diamond Mind’. This deforestation is not only going to affect the flora and fauna of that region, but is going to take a great toll on the human beings as well.

Local people living in that area are going to be homeless and jobless as their livelihood depended on this forest. Apart from the humans, the wildlife is also going to be homeless and this will cause great problems to living-beings because deforestation would give rise to deadly new virus or diseases like yellow fever, chikungunya, dengue, zika, and other such harmful virus. People today are facing so many problems due to air, water, and land pollution, the only thing stopping this pollution are these few forests that are left. If they are also being cut down then what will happen to man-kind?

The rate at which the trees are being chopped down, people are soon going to give money to the museums to just know about these plants and see them as in the outside world, because these trees would have been chopped down because of man-kinds selfish needs. We have often heard people saying in advertisements that diamonds are forever and that they are rare, which has made diamonds very valuable. But the forest and the trees have been valuable, one doesn’t need advertisements to say this, because everyone knows the importance of a tree. If there are no trees there would be no us- the living beings.

To stop all this from happening and to save human life, a campaign has been started, called as “Save Buxwaha Campaign”. This campaign has gained great momentum in real life as well as on the social media platforms. The activist has asked the government to stop this project as cutting down two lakh trees will not only increase air and water pollution but would also change the whole biodiversity of the nearby land.
