Media Eye News Bureau: Legendary Bollywood actress and Padma Shri awardee Sridevi passed away due to cardiac arrest in Dubai. She was 54.
Sridevi had gone along with her family to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding. Her husband Boney Kapoor and her younger daughter Khushi stayed back with her.
Before she began her career in Bollywood she was a known face in South Indian films. She debuted as a child artiste in the Tamil film Thunaivan in 1969. Besides Tamil films, she later worked in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films as well.
With a debut in the film Solva Sawan in 1978, she went on to star in stellar blockbuster films such as Himmatwala, Mawaali, Tohfa, Mr India, Lamhe, Chaalbaaz, Sadma and Chandni she ruled the box office and proved that she was a versatile actor.
She went on a hiatus for 15 years after starring Judaai and made a comeback in director Gauri Shinde's English Vinglish in 2012. She also acted in the 2017 film Mom opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna and shot for a special appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film Zero which is set to release in December.
