Mumbai: Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd began cutting trees at Aarey Colony late Friday night to make way for its car shed, hours after four petitions by NGOs were rejected by the Bombay High Court. On Saturday, opposition NCP and Congress criticized the Shiv Sena and BJP, alleging the ruling parties failed to save trees in Aarey Colony. Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray, the Nationalist Congress Party asked where were the "fake environment lovers" when the hacking of trees began late Friday night.
