Mumbai: Sankara digvijayam a dance ballet presented by Mumbai based Kalasadan jointly with Sri Shanmukhananda Sabha at the Sabha’s Sri Chandrasekharandra Saraswati Auditorium on January 10, was one of the most cherished presentations celebrating the glorious life of the great Philosopher and Seer Sri Adi Sankaracharya.

The plot based on the various Sanskrit biographies of the acharya, the play comprised of simple Sanskrit verses composed by Shri Sriram Narainswamy, interspersed with the Seer’s original works. The ballet presented by 35 dancers was an aesthetic portrayal of the major events in the life of the great seer presented through the means of classical dance & music. 

Kalasadan is one of the pioneer cultural institutions in Mumbai engaged in the preservation and propagation of classical art-forms and the Sanskrit language. Established in the year 1954, by Late Sri Guru Mani, Kalasadan has trained hundreds of students in the art forms of Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music and has presented several unique dance productions based on epic themes such as Umā-Pariṇayaṃ and Kucelopapkhyana.
