Mumbai: On the occasion of the New year day several temples in Mumbai conducted special poojas and homams for peace and prosperity of all living beings. At Sri Sankara Mattham , Matunga nakshatra shanthi homam, Lakshmi Kubera homam and Aayushya homam were conducted.
At the nearby Asthika Samaj devotees visited from early morning for the darshan of Lord Guruvayoorappan , Rama, Muruga, Iyyappa and Aanjaneya idols.
Devotees consider very auspicious to visit Devi temples on the New year day. At the 400 year old Marubai Gaondevi temple, Matunga devotees visited from early morning to have a glimpse of Marubai Devi so that the new year will being peace and prosperity to their families. Here the idol is a "Swayamboo"- came on its own.
