Finance Minister to inaugurate a sprawling, brand new income tax office worth about 64 crore in Kochi

On Friday, November 24 2023, Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, will inaugurate the newly constructed office (Aaykar Bhawan) of the income tax department in Kochi, Kerala, informed Jyothis Mohan, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, to Mediaeye. The office, which occupies a built-up area of 8227 sq.m and a carpet area of 4469 sqm, was constructed with a project cost of about Rs.64 crore,

The inauguration function will be held at 4 pm at Gokulam Park Hotel & Convention Centre. At the event, the Finance Minister (FM) will distribute models of Chandrayaan to students of Government schools to instill a scientific mindset in them. The FM will also release “Tax Deductor’s Guide 2023,” a compilation of TDS regulations written in Malayalam, to help the tax deductors easily understand TDS requirements and ensure better compliance with TDS provisions.

Subsequently, accompanied by the top officials from the income tax department, the FM will proceed to the newly built Aaykar Bhawan, where she will cut the ribbon, unveil the plaque and perform a pooja.
Senior IRS officers Nitin Gupta, Chairman, CBDT. Sanjai Kumar Verma, Member, CBDT and Sunil Mathur, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Kerala, will attend the inauguration.
