In a move that has energised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra, Uttam Kumar has been appointed the state convenor of the Kerala cell of BJP Maharashtra. In addition, he is also working as vice president of the district. He will function under the leadership of the party’s state president, Chandrashekhar Bavankule.

Abhijit Rane, founder and secretary of the Dhadak Workers Union, was also present on this momentous occasion.

Expressing gratitude, Uttam Kumar said, “I will endeavour to justify the responsibilities bestowed upon me by the leadership. I am grateful to the state’s Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, and state president, Shri Chandrashekhar Bavankule, for showing confidence in me. I will fulfil this responsibility with utmost dedication.”

Uttam Kumar has been involved with the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak since adolescence, holding several positions within the Movement.

He began by serving as bal sevak and later assumed the responsibility of bal pramukh. He has worked in various capacities, including booth pramukh, secretary of the Vasai Road Mandal, mandal president and district secretary.

As an active party member, Uttam Kumar has successfully established the BJP in the satellite township of Vasai, a neighbourhood of Mumbai, through various socially beneficial programmes (inviting prominent personalities from across the country to the township). This has earned him respect and enhanced his party’s strength in the region.

Besides, since 2010, he has disseminated numerous Modi government schemes to locals from his office at Shastri Nagar in Vasai.

Furthermore, Uttam Kumar annually organises the Hindu Mahasammelan in Vasai through the social organisation Sanatan Dharma Sabha. The event lasts three days, attracting participants from across the country and includes the presence of enlightened saints. The organisation’s dedicated efforts in promoting Hindutva ideology have garnered attention, drawing citizens from the Vasai taluka.
A committed party member, he has always worked diligently despite challenges, ensuring that the BJP’s Vasai office continued functioning permanently and avoided closure.

The recent appointment of Kumar in a key position demonstrates the BJP’s focus on meritocracy, allowing talented individuals to rise based on their capabilities and dedication.
Essentially, it reinforces the party’s approach to encouraging healthy competition and motivating its members to excel within the party hierarchy.
