President Ram Nath Kovind’s address provides hope and presents a roadmap for India to move forward in the years to come, said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi replying to the Motion of Thanks to President’s address in Lok Sabha.

“His address comes at a time when we enter the third decade of the century. Rashtrapati Ji’s address instils a spirit of hope and it presents a roadmap for taking the nation ahead in the times to come”, the Prime Minister reiterated.

The Prime Minister in his address said that people are losing patience and are not willing to wait any more. They are looking for speed and scale, determination and decisiveness, sensitivity and solution. The Government of India is working with agility and great pace and as a result in five years around 37 million people have bank account, 11 million people have access to toilets in their homes, 13 million people have got cooking gas, around 2 crore people have their own house. Around 40 lakh people in over 1700 illegal colonies in Delhi now own a house.

Increasing farmers’ income was one of the top priorities of the central government, the issues surrounding MSP, crop insurance and irrigation related schemes were pending for several years. Our government increased the MSP to one and half times and spent one lakh crore rupees spent to complete the stalled irrigation projects.

“More than five and a half crores of farmers joined the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme; farmers were paid a premium of thirteen and a half crore rupees, insurance claims of more than 56 thousand crores are settled, the Prime Minister said. Modi added that agriculture budget increased five times, “PM-KISAN Samman Yojana is transforming the lives of many farmers. A sum of Rs 45,000 Crores have been transferred and several farmers have benefitted due to this. In this scheme there are no middlemen and no extra file-work,” he said.

Speaking further the Prime Minister said that the government has kept fiscal deficit in check, inflation is under control and India is experiencing macro-economic stability. Modi also spoke about the numerous steps the government has taken to win investors’ confidence and boost the economy of the country. He further elaborated that schemes such as Stand up India and Mudra have brought prosperity and many of the Mudra beneficiaries are women. Loans worth more than Rs. 22 crores have been disbursed to the youth under the Mudra scheme.

Prime Minister Modi added, “For us infrastructure is a combination of aspirations and achievements, about connecting people to their dreams, people's creativity to consumers. Infrastructure is connecting a child to her school, a farmer to the market, a businessman to his customers. It is about connecting people to people.”

He added that next generation infrastructure will drive India’s economy forward, earlier infrastructure development brought opportunities for select few but now to many more as we have made this sector transparent. Going on we are investing Rs.100 lakh crores in infrastructure sector to boost growth, economy and development.
