Greeting people on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, Governor Ramesh Bais wished the festival to promote affection, brotherhood, and harmony among the country’s citizens.

In a message, the Governor emphasised the significance of Gudi Padwa, stating, “I extend my heartiest greetings to all on this auspicious occasion, which marks the commencement of the New Year.”

He added, “The festival is celebrated in different parts of the country as Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Samsar Padvo and Cheti Chand.  May the festival promote affection, brotherhood and harmony among the people of the country. I wish the people a happy Gudi Padwa and New Year.”

For Hindus, especially those of Marathi and Konkani heritage, Gudi Padwa is a spring festival that heralds the beginning of the lunisolar new year. It is observed in and around Maharashtra, Goa, and Daman at the beginning of Chaitra, the first month of the lunisolar Hindu calendar.
