Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has called for a meeting with state insurers to direct them for a quick and hassle-free settlement of claims arising from Delhi’s riot hit areas. Preliminary estimates reveal that insurance claims could range around Rs.15 crores and even more once surveyors begin assessing the damages.

PMO has already taken stock of the situation on anticipated claims, interestingly Life Insurance Corporation has settled slain Delhi Police constable’s claim in a record time. Majority of the claim filed so far pertains to vehicle damages and business losses. In India usually property is left uninsured.

A senior executive from LIC has said that the government had called for a meeting and one took place with another scheduled to happen in the coming days. He said that the Principal Secretary from the PMO is looking into the affairs.

Meanwhile an ICICI Lombard executive told media that their company would get to know how many from their customer base are affected once the claims start coming in.
