Veteran criminal lawyer and former Union law minister Ram Jethmalani died here at his residence on Sunday, Jethmalani was 96 years old. He had also served as the Minister of Urban Development in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government. In 2010, he was elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Born in Sindh, Pakistan on September 14, 1923, Jethmalani finished his S.C. L.L.M. College of Law Shahani, Karachi. He was elected to Lok Sabha in 1977 for the first time. He took over from October 1999 to July 2000 in the Vajpayee as Union Minister of Law, Justice and Company Affairs.
