Noida: The 14th Conference of the Parties (COP14) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The event was also attended by Saint Vincent's Prime Minister and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves & Union Minister Prakash Javadekar. Addressing the event, PM Modi said that both biodiversity and soil are affected by climate and environment. The world faces the adverse effect of climate change is commonly accepted. "Climate change is also leading to land degradation of various kinds be it due to rise in sea levels and wave action, erratic rainfall and storms, and sand storms caused by hot temperatures," he said.
