New Delhi: In a series of tweets on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that while opposition is an important part of democracy, violence is not.He articulated the position of the government on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act. "Violent protests on the Citizenship Amendment Act are unfortunate and deeply distressing. Debate, discussion and dissent are essential parts of democracy but, never has damage to public property and disturbance of normal life been a part of our ethos,"  He said.The Prime Minister said that the need for the hour is for everyone to work together to empower every Indian, especially the poor, downtrodden and marginalized.
