NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Admi Party took the first foot forward in the upcoming general election as they announced its candidates in Delhi. They have announced six candidates out of seven in Delhi, as the seventh and final seat is still being discussed.

Candidates are Atishi from East Delhi, Raghav Chaddha from South Delhi, Pankaj Gupta from Chandni Chowk, Dilip Pandey from North East Delhi, Gugan Singh from North West Delhi and Brajesh Goel from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat.

The AAP's announcement comes days after they declared that there will be no "mahagathbandhan" with the Congress in Delhi.

The six candidates are also tasked to take care of their constituencies. The BJP had won the seven seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. But the AAP had made a strong comeback in the following assembly election as they won 66 out of the 77 seats. Senior leader Gopal Rai said that they will try to repeat that performance.

Gopal Rai added that the AAP was ready to ally with the Congress, but Congress President Rahul Gandhi, as well as, Sheila Dikshit stood against the move.
