ME NEWS BUREAU: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has slapped a five-month ban for Indian Cricket player Yusuf Pathan who was found failed in a dope test. Despite being slapped with the ban, senior Pathan will not miss the upcoming season of the IPL as he was handed a backdated ban which had begun on August 15 and will end on January 14.

Pathan tweeted, giving courtesy to BCCI, for ample time to prove his innocence, soon after the BCCI announced that they had suspended him from playing all forms of cricket.

Earlier Pathan had been tweeted positive for Terbutaline (a banned substance in WADA’s list) during a domestic T20 game in Delhi on March 16, 2017.

Baroda had axed Pathan from their Ranji Trophy team as per the advice of BCCI due to the reports of his dope usage.

Yusuf Pathan was part of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders for the last few seasons though he was not retained by them this time. Now the ban will end on January 14, he will be available for the IPL player auction on January 27 and 28.
