The EURO 2020 finals were held on Saturday 10th July 2021, where the Italians defeated England in a penalty shootout to become the undisputed kings of the continent. This was Italy’s second win in the Euro series since 1968. It was also the first shootout in a Euro final since 1976.

The match ended with a penalty shootout where the England team missed the goals and the Italian team on the other hand did not and won the championship. This lead to a huge brawl among the England and Italian fans in the stand. Things got so out of hand that there were abuses- verbal as well as physical. Few of the people even got hurt or were injured.

It was later on seen that some of the match fans had entered the sports ground to see the match without buying the tickets and created a huge mess after their favorite team did not win. To investigate the matter further, The English Football Association has commissioned an independent investigation to solve this case after ticketless fans fought their way into Wembley stadium for the match.

The investigation showed that thousands of supporters gained entry to the stadium by storming the gates before Italy's win against England. There were ugly scenes in the stands and concourses during the game as fans with tickets clashed with those who had broken in.

The key point of this investigation was to find out and identify who all were involved in creating violence inside and outside Wembley. They also wanted to catch the people who did this so that lessons are learned. It was a disgrace to see that people got drunk and made such a violent scene during such a good match.

Racial slurs and insults were thrown at the players who missed the goals, some members of the footballer's family were also hurt in this mayhem, and many were upset that the fans made the finals end in such a bad way. They showed no sportsmanship spirit and let their emotions ahead of themselves and created such a ruckus that spoilt England's name.

The investigators are working with the police to find all those who are responsible and hold them accountable for their mistakes. They are interrogating people and closely watching the CCTV footage and other footages to see what happened, how things went down, whose fault was it, who started it and all such important questions are still to be answered.

The behavior of both those who forced their way into Wembley and the online trolls has been widely condemned. The shocking incidents have also raised doubts about the chances of a successful proposed joint bid by the United Kingdom and Ireland to host the 2030 World Cup.

The finals bought out a lot of different emotions in the fans while some were happy some were sad that their team did not win, but that did not give the fans the right to abuse and troll the players or get violent. It was a sport, winning and losing are bound to happen the players and the supporters need to understand that and watch the matches peacefully rather than with violence.
