Wayanad: A 10-year-old girl died in the Wayanad district of northern Kerala on Wednesday after being bitten by a snake in her classroom. When the incident took place, Shehala, a student of Class 5, was in her classroom at a government school in Sulthan Bathery. There was a hole in the classroom's concrete floor, and reportedly the snake was biting her through the hole. Her classmates say that they were initially told by the teachers that this was an injury caused by either a rock, stone or a similar object. "On the spot, when this happened, we asked the teacher why she couldn't be taken to a doctor," said one of the students.
