Administration failed to

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled that the Chandigarh Administration failed to safeguard the interests of its students seeking admission to the medical college in the city as it was controlled by officers on deputation from Punjab and Haryana, concerned more about the welfare of their children.
The admonition by the Bench of Justice Daya Chaudhary and Justice Sudhir Mittal came after it observed that a window had been kept open for students from the neighbouring states to seek admission in the UT only after passing Class XII examination from a school situated in Chandigarh even though such a criteria had already been held arbitrary.
The Bench asserted that this violated the rights of students domiciled in Chandigarh as they were subjected to an unfair competition from others belonging to the neighbouring states. On the other hand, students domiciled in the neighbouring states were not subjected to any such competition from the UT students.
