COVID effect Ganapathy idol will be only 4 ft in height

Mumbai: Mumbai which is one place where Ganapathy festival is celebrated in a grand manner for 10 days with more than 22 ft idols and also gold and diamond-adorned idols on display, this year due to restrictions will have to do away with pomp and festivity and had to celebrate in a very simple way. The idols as per rule cannot be more than 4ft. in height and nothing can be taken in procession for immersion. With the result, many idol manufacturers are out of their business and small families in Dharavi areas are making small idols in their makeshift pandals.

The Lalbaghcha Raja organisers said they will not keep Lord Ganapati`s idol and will do social work for those 11 days of festivities," "A blood donation camp, plasma donation camp will be set up at the same place. Also, they will honour the families of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives at the LoC or LAC borders. This is the first time in the history of Lalbaughcha Raja that Ganpati Idol will not be established," the officials added.

Even the makers of Rakhi for the Raksha Bandhan festival which is on August 3, finding it difficult to sell their products as no customer is coming to buy due to lockdown. Two big shops in Rakhi galli in Dharavi are also waiting for customers to buy.
