Surat: Leader of the Congress partyRahul Gandhi appeared before a Surat court today to plead "not guilty" on a defamation case filed after he allegedly said: " In this case, Mr Gandhi also submitted a request for permanent exemption from future court proceedings. All thieves have Modi as common surname" at an election rally in Karnataka ahead of Lok Sabha polls in April-May. The court also said that Mr Gandhi was not needed to be present in court for that hearing, which set December 10 as the date of response to the petition.
