Wall Collapse in Bhiwandi near Mumbai; Three Workers Injured

Thane: Early morning on Monday, three workers were injured when a wall of a powerloom factory collapsed in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra’s Thane district, informed civic officials.

Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation’s chief fire officer, Rajesh Pawar, said the incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. at the unit in the Navipada area of Subhash Nagar, where eight workers were present.

As the wall collapsed, three workers got trapped under the debris while the five others rushed out to save their lives, he said. After being alerted, local firemen reached the spot and pulled the three workers out of the debris.

The official said that two workers received severe injuries and were shifted to a hospital in Thane city, while another injured worker was being treated at a local medical facility. He said the debris was cleared by 9 a.m. and that a probe was underway into the incident.
