The Central Bureau of Investigation had detained Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the BJP lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh, who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district. Fresh action was taken by the CBI after the centre approved the Uttar Pradesh government's request for a CBI probe in the rape case.
The case turned into focus once again after the victim tried to immolate herself, alleging police inaction against the lawmaker Sengar, outside the residence of CM Yogi Adityanath last week.
Earlier victim's father died in judicial custody a week after he was allegedly thrashed by the MLA's brother and others.
