Mumbai: A seven-year-old kid drowned here on Monday in an open drain, making him the third of its kind in six days in the business capital of the country, authorities said.

Sumit Jaiswal, the victim, fell into an open drain near a garden in Dharavi's Rajiv Gandhi Colony and rescuers took his body out after a few hours. Last Saturday (July 13), at a construction site of the coastal road project in Worli, a 12-year-old boy Bablu Paswan fell into a pit.

Earlier on July 10, a two-month-old toddler Divyanshu Singh fell in an open drain while playing on the road in Goregaon.

Though rescue agencies launched a massive search for him with sophisticated gadgets in a 10 km vicinity right up to the Arabian Sea, his body is yet to be recovered.
