New Delhi: India's Chief Justice (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi has recommended as India's next Chief Justice (CJI) the second senior judge, Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde.  The sitting CJI has to write and recommend its immediate successor according to tradition. India's Chief Justice (CJI) will retire on November 17, 2019. After recommending Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde's name, CJI Gogoi has requested the government that it should initiate the process for appointing Bodbe as his successor.  Justice Bobde was former Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court and also serving as the Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur.
