Mumbai: On Friday, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena Patriarch Uddhav Thackeray said that Muslims need not fear eviction and the state will not permit violations of any citizen's rights on community grounds. "Those who want to demonstrate can do that in peace, there shouldn't be a stain on the state's name. Citizens don't need to fear being thrown out of the country after the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) has been enforced," Uddhav said.

Udhav's comments came a day after speculations surrounded Shiv Sena's position on the CAA, after the saffron party leaders missed the grand anti-CAA rally in Mumbai.
