Indore: On Sunday, the central government was targeted by actress Swara Bhaskar to award the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civic honor, to Pakistan-born singer Adnan Sami who became an Indian citizen in 2016. Addressing a rally "Save the Constitution, Save the Nation" in Indore against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Madhya Pradesh, Ms. Bhaskar said that passing the controversial law, which only gives citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from three nations, amounted to "betraying" the secular constitution.
