Due to Lockdown many suffered the loss of income, job and were finding it difficult even for daily food. To mitigate this problem the Shankara Hindu Mission, an NGO started by the Sankaracharya of Kanchi late Sri Jayendra Saraswati in Mumbai, decided to help the needy, poor and cancer patients and now started helping these sections in a phased manner.

The SHM have distributed one monthly ration which includes rice, Atta, oil and all pulses at the Sri Shankara Mattham, Matunga to railway Porters, Dabbawallas and shoe-polish workers. Last month they had given rations to flower vendors, taxi drivers and housemaids. This will be continued every month to other needy people.
