Media Eye News Bureau: Minnie Mouse, the iconic Disney character received the 2,627th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame 40 years after Mickey Mouse received his in 1978 and became the first cartoon character to get a star. Further, 2018 also marks the 90th anniversary of the release of the 1928 Disney classic Steamboat Willie.

Minnie wore a custom designer sequinned red polka-dot Coach dress. On receiving the honour, she expressed, “I want to thank all my friends from around the world. And Mickey, I am so happy you’re here to share this magical day with me. This really is the best day ever.”

Katy Perry was also there to share the moment with Minnie Mouse and was dressed in the iconic toon’s red and white polka dots in a custom dress and hat by Christian Siriano. She said, “I was maybe two or three years old and into my peripheral vision came Minnie and Mickey Mouse-printed diapers. That was my very first memory ever.  And of course, it turned into a lifelong devotion.” She added, “Speaking of polka dots, her style is the epitome of fun fashion. To this day no one rocks a bow, the colour red or a dot quite like her, trust me I am trying.”

Also in attendance was Heidi Klum, who wore a black and white version of Minnie’s signature polka dots which she accessorized with a pair of sequinned ears along with alt Disney Co. Chairman and CEO Bob Iger.

Minnie joins several other Disney characters on the hallowed sidewalks of Hollywood, including Donald Duck, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White and Kermit the Frog.
