Mumbai: Although the loss-making Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transportation (BEST) saw an increase in passenger numbers after a fare cut previously this month, its personnel union on Monday threatened to go on an indefinite strike starting at midnight on August 6, demanding, among other things, a fresh salary contract.
The BEST Workers ' Union, the only labor union authorized to negotiate labor matters with the administration, said it sent a notice about the strike to the officials. If the negotiations fail, this will be BEST workers ' second strike this year, about eight months after the previous one from 7 to 16 January.
