Global Covid 19 caseload tops 181mn

The overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 180.7 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.92 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

In its latest update on Monday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 181,038,754 and 3,921,974, respectively.

The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 33,624,871 and 603,966, respectively, according to the CSSE.

In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 30,233,183 cases.

The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (18,420,598), France (5,831,972), Turkey (5,409,027), Russia (5,387,486), the UK (4,748,644), Argentina (4,405,247), Italy (4,258,069), Colombia (4,158,716), Spain (3,782,463), Germany (3,734,489) and Iran (3,167,741), the CSSE figures showed.

In terms of deaths, Brazil comes second with 513,474 fatalities.

Nations with a death toll of over 100,000 are India (395,751), Mexico (232,521), Peru (191,584), Russia (131,070), the UK (128,364), Italy (127,472), France (111,130) and Colombia (104,678).
